Barrow's Goldeneye in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

I had two interesting encounters yesterday in Yellowstone National Park. The first was a common raven feeding at a fresh duck carcass, and the second was a yellow-bellied marmot gathering nesting material.

My favorite image of the day is of a female Barrow's goldeneye. We set up to photograph her and a potential suitor, but he stayed too far away to photograph. She made several close passes to us, and the calm water and clear blue sky provided a nice environment for her portrait.
