I had an incredible encounter with a river otter yesterday morning in Yellowstone National Park. I spotted it out on the ice on Yellowstone Lake while photographing a lesser scaup pair, then got into position to photograph it when it got closer to the shore. In the image above, it's standing on ice that had formed the previous night with some older ice and snow in the background.
