It's wildflower season in the high country of Colorado, and I'm enjoying my time in the San Juan Mountains near Silverton. There was a lot of snow this winter which is usually good for the wildflower bloom, but it has taken longer to melt than usual so some areas that usually have lots of flowers don't have many yet. I've seen a lot more Old Man of the Mountain or Alpine Sunflower (Hymenoxys grandiflora) than usual, and I found a nice specimen yesterday evening to share with you.
