Yellow-Bellied Marmot in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Yesterday in Yellowstone National Park was another great day for photography. A bison calf posed nicely among the sagebrush, a male mountain bluebird also posed nicely among the sagebrush, a male and female Williamson's sapsucker at point-blank range were fairly cooperative, and a river otter was very cooperative.

My favorite image of the day is of a yellow-bellied marmot. The lichen-covered boulder, diffuse light, and a perfect background (a hillside covered with sagebrush about half a mile away) created excellent portrait conditions for this cute little mammal.
