April 19, 2011 Tundra Ponds, Katmai Peninsula, Alaska
And now, for something completely different …
Tundra Ponds
Katmai Peninsula, Alaska, USA

Image taken on September 11, 2009.
I've been processing images from our trip to Alaska in 2009, and wanted to share this image because it's so different from my usual work. First, it was taken from the air, and second, it's more abstract and less compositionally structured than my usual landscape images. I find the small ponds in the high, rocky tundra of the Katmai Peninsula fascinating because the color of the water reveals that the bottom of the ponds changes depth rather suddenly.
