Have you ever been in the wrong place at the right time? It happened to me last night. I had a great composition and the clouds looked promising so I waited for the clouds to light up at sunset. The clouds in my composition only developed some too-subtle color, but the clouds off to the left and off to the right developed some spectacular color and I couldn't make a good composition from where I was to take advantage of it. Then it happened again this morning! I went to an area where I'd have some compositional options, and of course the best color happened where I didn't have an option. Hopefully the third time (tonight) will be a charm. After the color didn't pan out this morning, it was on to Plan B — my favorite bend in the San Miguel River.
