Alpine Wildflowers in the San Juan National Forest, Colorado

It was another great day in the high country near Silverton. I made this image in the morning at one of my favorite locations. I like the play of the vegetation and the rocks.

I scouted American Basin in the afternoon in the wind and rain. From the road, the bloom looks to be a bit less than average, but there are still plenty of flowers. The columbine are looking great, but in scattered clumps and not masses. The area should be good through the weekend.
