On our second full day at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town, South Africa, we went out to photograph the penguins in the morning and the afternoon. My favorite image of the day is of three penguins reflected in a small tide pool. It's always nice to get a reflection or a group of three animals, and it was especially nice to get a reflection of three animals.

I used my 70-200 with 2x most of the time today to give me more compositional freedom than the 500 with or without the 1.4x, and I was quite happy with that setup. Canon's new 200-400 with a built-in 1.4x would be ideal for shooting in situations like today because of the flexibility provided by an almost-instant switch from mid-range telephoto for group shots to a long lens for individual/portrait shots.
