Pieces, Valley Of Fire State Park, Nevada, USA

The sky was clear two mornings ago when I went into Valley Of Fire State Park, so I sought out detail images. I tried out my new Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L II USM for the first time but preferred using my new-to-me-but-used Canon TS-E 90mm f2.8. The 90 TS is slightly sharper than the 24-70 f2.8 II in the corners even though it's a really old lens design, plus I really like being able to use the tilt motion to align the plane of focus along the subject. In this image of a vertical face of a sandstone wall, I had to shoot with the camera pointed slightly up and therefore not parallel to the wall, and the tilt motion let me get everything in focus.
