Here's another image from the elk carcass I photographed a few days ago in Yellowstone National Park. After the wolf left, a Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) that had been waiting in a nearby tree flew in and landed on the carcass. About a minute later, a juvenile Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) flew in and the two eagles had an airborn squabble to determine whose carcass it would be. It ended up a draw and shortly after this image, both eagles were on the carcass. The Golden Eagle didn't seem too interested in the prize, so it hopped off and picked up a scrap that was lying in the snow nearby then it flew off.
