The weather gods looked favorably upon me last night. The sky above Bandon Beach was clear when I arrived about an hour before sunset and there was a small cloud bank with rain above the horizon directly to the west. Not exactly the conditions I was hoping for, but I headed out onto the beach just in case something interesting would happen. As I was looking for a composition, the clouds from the rain shower moved closer and closer to the beach. I set up by my favorite two rocks (see the blog posts for September 27, 2013 and September 28, 2013) and waited. The sun descended below the cloud bank and bathed the beach in wonderful light. Then the sun went behind another cloud near the horizon and finally set behind that same cloud. That's when the underside of the cloud bank, which was now over the beach, lit up. Sometimes, everything comes together.
