There was just a thin band of clouds to the east at Crater Lake yesterday morning, so I waited for the sun to crest the crater rim and create a starburst. I used a 2-stop hard graduated neutral density (ND) filter to help balance the exposure of the sky and the rest of the image and 5 exposures 1-stop apart combined using the Lightroom HDR technique to bring out detail from the extremely bright sun to the quite-dark foreground.
