Great Gray Owl in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

I returned to the great gray owl nest yesterday and didn't have to wait long until the mother brought a vole back to the nest. The older, approximately 24 day old, chick is in the right part of the frame and it didn't get to eat. The vole was reserved for the younger, maybe 21 or 22 day old, chick that's completely behind the mother in this image. I was amazed that the older chick just sat there while the mother fed the younger chick.
