I discovered this moose cow and calf two evenings ago in Yellowstone National Park. They were bedded down just inside the willows on the far side of Soda Butte Creek so it wasn't a great photo op. However, because it was a great set of subjects, I waited for them to stand up and they didn't before it got too dark. I figured they wouldn't move far overnight, so I went back first thing yesterday morning. I was surprised that they hadn't moved more than 20 yds (18m)! There was a strong sidelight from my left so I had to wait for the moose to turn properly so I wouldn't get harsh shadows on them. I couldn't get a better angle without fording a wide stream, and I really wished that I had had my gum boots with me.
