I made this image of some sandstone diagonals in Valley Of Fire State Park yesterday. I drove with Jan and our friends G and L out into the heart of the park for the first time because G thought it would be good for me to get out of the RV and experience the wonders of the park. I was able to hobble around a bit without crutches, so I decided to go. We parked near a formation Jan wanted to photograph, and Jan, G, and L hiked out into the wonderful sandstone landscape. I surveyed my surroundings and noticed the interesting diagonals on the hill near where we were parked. After a while, I got out of the car, set up my camera, then hobbled along the road so I could take some shots. It was great therapy. (Thanks G!) The light wasn't great and my right foot was getting tired from bearing most of my weight while standing still, so I went back to the car and rested. Right after the sun set, I got out and photographed the same area with a wonderful warm glow on the rocks which is when I made the image above.
