European Roller in Kruger National Park, South Africa

On our fourth full day in Kruger National Park, South Africa, we explored the area around the Letaba Rest Camp. We saw lots of leopard tracks on the road in the morning, but no leopard. :(

The afternoon game drive was slow, but as we were returning to camp, Jan spotted a European roller on a great perch with a large insect in its mouth. We stopped to photograph it, and I was able to capture the roller flipping the insect in the air to get it turned around so it could try breaking off some legs so it would go down easier.
