As I mentioned in the blog yesterday, the Rio Grande Zoo in Albuquerque, is great for gorilla and orangutan photography. After the temperatures warmed up a bit later in the morning, the gorillas came out into the open-air enclosure. Unfortunately, the thin cloud layer had moved off leaving clear skies and harsh shadows. One of the Western Lowland Gorillas posed nicely in the shade, and I was able to get one of my favorite gorilla portraits ever. I love the way she held her hands and looked at me with a slight tilt of her head — what a great model.
