Jan and I visited Orcas Island, one of the San Juan Islands in Puget Sound, for the first time yesterday. The day trip was partly for pleasure (lunch, tourist trap and artsy shops, a brewery, and dinner) and partly for work. After the fun part of the day, we went to Moran State Park for more fun. There are several waterfalls along the Cascade Creek trail, and I was particularly interested in photographing Rustic Falls. However, when I got there, a nude young man was quickly getting dressed. Because he was taking quite some time to get decent and out of my way, I continued down the trail and ended up at Cascade Falls, another of the falls that I had wanted to photograph. I focussed on details near the upper part of the falls (above) because of the messy logs lying across the bottom of the falls, and the lush green vegetation provided a nice setting for the falls. When I finished with Cascade Falls, I headed back to Rustic Falls in time to see a naked young woman walking around the side of the falls towards me. She was completely engrossed in her yoga and/or meditation, and sat down facing the falls. Because the ferns surrounding the falls were starting dry out, I decided to keep heading back to the car. It was one of the most unique and memorable waterfall photography experiences I've had. :)
