I happened to be in the right place at the right time to photograph this Northern Shoveler (Anas clypeata) as it flew by. I had been parked next to the mostly-frozen pond because I had seen shovelers walking across the ice and thought it would be great to photograph them out of the water. I made many images of them walking and also made some images as they flew by.

Just down the road, a group of American Coot (Fulica americana) were also walking across the ice on the mostly-frozen pond, and I was able to capture my best-ever images of their unusual feet.
