We returned to the Hoh Rain Forest area of Olympic National Park yesterday and stopped at one of he marvelous maple groves along the way in the Olympic Experimental State Forest. We hadn't stopped to shoot on our first visit three days ago, but we wanted to return because there was potential for good images. Well, after we parked, I wandered around to look for compositions and after quite a while I found something interesting. I got out my camera and the lens fogged up because it was colder than the dew point. I went back to the car to warm up my gear then went back out. The composition I had found didn't really work and the nearby red squirrel wasn't very cooperative for my 70-200 either, so I headed back to the car to leave. That's when I started to explore the possibilities with the branch at the bottom of this image. I found this composition and it was the only image I made at the marvelous maple grove.
