Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, which encompasses the former Kalahari Gemsbok National Park in South Africa, is a great place to see big cats because the vegetation is low and there are waterholes that the cats, especially the lions, visit. It was extremely dry this past February which really kept the vegetation down and created some wonderful photo ops. I came upon a small group of lions early one morning as they were heading towards a water hole, and I rushed to the opposite side of the water hole so I could photograph them as they approached. I just love the way the low angle of the light really lights up this guys eyes. Enjoy!
