The sky wasn't very interesting yesterday morning on the beach at Ecola State Park so I turned my attention to the pebbles and erosion patterns on the beach. I used the Canon TS-E 90mm f2.8 lens so I could align the plane of focus along the beach without being constrained to looking straight down. I still had to use a fairly large f-stop to get enough depth of field to extend from the top to the bottom of the pebbles.

I used my new HiTech 6-stop ProStop IRND resin filter to make this 1.5-minute exposure shortly after sunset. The long exposure turned the waves into a nice cottony surface. The filter has a gasket around the back to block unwanted light and it fits snugly in a standard 2mm slot of the Lee Filters Foundation Kit. It imparts a slight magenta cast, but it's more neutral than the standard HiTech ND filters. It's nice to have a single solid ND filter between the extremely neutral Lee Filters 3-stop ProGlass ND filter and the extremely dark Lee Filters 10-stop Big Stopper ND filter.
