I just love photographing ground squirrels. There's just something about their cute faces and their rapid movements that I thoroughly enjoy watching. I photographed this guy in Yellowstone National Park last June on a bright sunny day in the middle of the day. I can hear you saying, "Huh?!" Yes, bright sun in the middle of the day. Because I only included the ground squirrel and the snow, there were no harsh shadows because the snow acted like a big reflector. So, don't be afraid to photograph wildlife and other "small" subjects in the middle of the day in full sun when they are surrounded by wide open areas of snow.
