We had a great time photographing this morning in Custer State Park, South Dakota. My favorite image is of a wild burro jenny and foal. The little guy was so cute with its floppy ears!

Canon EOS 1D X

Canon announced the EOS 1D X today. It marks the joining of the two models in the 1-series line (1D and 1Ds) into a single body with a full-frame sensor and a fast frame rate.

Things I like

  • 18.1 MP at 12 fps
  • second multi-controller for verticals
  • two CF cards
  • 2, 3, 5, or 7 bracketed exposures
  • Exposure compensation of ±5 EV

Things I'm not sure about

  • only 18.1 MP to replace the 21.1 MP of the EOS 1Ds Mk III for landscapes
  • loosing the 1.3x magnification of the 1D series for wildlife
  • new battery
  • looks like the AF sensor coverage area is slightly smaller than the previous 1-series bodies
