A good-sized bull elk posed for us last night in Jasper National Park right outside Whistler's Campground. The park has a new policy to discourage the elk from hanging out in the campground, their historical rutting grounds: they chase the cows out and then the bulls follow. I think it's teaching the bulls that humans coming close to their girls is a bad thing because two nights ago a bull bluff charged a woman and then two cars who were close to his girls. Oh, isn't wildlife management policy interesting — by trying to protect us, I think they're making the elk more aggressive towards humans — brilliant!

Fine shot of a nice looking Elk. Interesting info on the wildlife management policy.
