I had a fantastic time photographing last night in Yoho National Park. I had been to the park before, but hadn't spent much time in it and didn't find many photographic opportunities before. Last night was different. We went to photograph near a well-known attraction along the Kicking Horse River, and I spent the whole time with great compositions that didn't contain the main attraction! In the image above, I was drawn to the reflected golden light from a nearby mountain, and I finally narrowed down the composition to just the worn rocks by the edge of the river. The water was surging up and over these rocks which kept them wet, and all I had to do was time the exposure for when a "wave" had receded. I used the tilt motion of the 90mm Tilt/Shift to align the plane of focus along the rocks, a polarizer to maximize the reflections, and a 3-stop neutral density filter to lengthen the exposure in order to blur the rushing water beyond the rocks.
