This image is the result of adapting to conditions instead of sticking to the agenda. The agenda was to photograph the Sawtooth Range at dawn with spectacular clouds that should have been around from the weather moving through. Instead, on the drive to the scheduled shooting location, fog started to develop, and by the time we reached the shooting location, everything was socked in. We drove around looking for a vantage point with no fog obscuring the peaks, but we couldn't find one. So, we decided to wait at the scheduled shooting location for the fog to burn off. After it got brighter, I photographed some chipmunks for a while. The fog showed no signs of burning off while light on the peaks would be good, so we started heading back to the RV. I stopped to photograph the wonderful trees growing around some beaver ponds, and I love the way this dead tree fills in the space between the living trees in the background.
