Giraffe Drinking in the Serengeti, Tanzania

The fourteenth day of my safari in Tanzania, and the seventh in the southern Serengeti, was our last day.

Because we had seen and photographed so many good subjects and behaviors already on the safari, we were quite relaxed. We started off photographing five bat-eared fox (two adults and three large kits) at their den. They were very relaxed, and almost too relaxed because they slept through most of their photo session. My favorite image of the morning is of a giraffe drinking. It's not very common to see a giraffe drink because they're very skittish when they drink. They have to bend down awkwardly to drink and that makes them vulnerable to predators, so they're usually very cautious.

This photo safari was my best ever, and I was sad to leave. However, I'm looking forward to returning to Kenya in October 2012 for another great photo safari.
