Hatcher Pass, north of Wasilla, Alaska, is a great place to experience and photograph an alpine environment. Hoary marmot, arctic ground squirrel, and collared pika inhabit the area and are usually cooperative photographic subjects.

In Tanzania

I made it to Arusha, Tanzania, late last night after an uneventful flight from Amsterdam, and it is so nice to be back in Africa after my extended absence.

This morning, I had breakfast on the patio of Mount Meru Hotel and enjoyed the pleasant temperatures and blue sky with some small puffy clouds. I had some wonderful cantaloupe, pineapple, and papaya for breakfast — there's nothing like the fresh fruit in Africa. While writing this, I'm enjoying the nice view of Mount Meru, just a few kilometers away. At 14,980 ft (4566m), it is the second highest peak in Tanzania. Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Tanzania, and also all of Africa, rises to 19,341 ft (5895m).

I'll meet my clients later today, and then tomorrow we'll head to Ngorongoro Crater.

Great shot of the Pika. What a contrast to what you are writing about though!
