Cranes Taking Off at Bosque

Sandhill Cranes Taking Off

Image taken on January 11, 2011.
On our final morning at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, the winds were good for photographing the sandhill cranes taking off from one of the pools to the west of NM-1. It was also quite cold (20°F or -7°C), and after a while the shutter of my Canon EOS 1D Mk IV started sounding really tinny. My toes and fingers weren't too happy either! I like the image above because the three cranes are nicely staggered and don't intersect with the far shore of the pond.

Very cool, especially with that one running on the ice. And each of them have different leg positions.
