I'm at Zion National Park for fall color, so here's a black and white image. Let me explain. The trees in the higher elevations of the park changed color on an odd schedule so that some trees were bare and other trees were just starting to change color. The trees at the lower elevations are just starting to change, but they seem to be in sync so conditions should be good in a few days. Yesterday morning the clouds didn't cooperate for grand-landscape images, so I turned my attention to more intimate scenes. The twisted, exposed, and weathered root system of a fallen, long-dead tree caught my eye, and by getting closer and closer I was able to refine the composition to a single twist.
