Folded Sandstone, White Pocket, Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, Arizona

There was a bright solid overcast one afternoon at White Pocket in the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument back in February, and it created perfect lighting conditions for intimate landscapes. It was bright enough to bring out the texture of the rock but not bright enough to create extreme contrast with bright highlights and dark shadows. This image of folded sandstone layers is of the side of a small butte.
