Jan and I explored the Gold Butte area for the first time yesterday. It's located on the east side of Lake Mead, and we spent most of our time at one of the sandstone pockets. I was fascinated by the colorful streaks on the side of a small alcove and worked the area with each of my tilt/shift lenses (90mm, 45mm, 24mm, and 17mm) to capture various parts and compositions. My favorite image is this one, taken with the Canon TS-E 17mm f4 L, because it emphasizes the wild pattern created by the curved streaks.
