It's so nice to be back in Yellowstone National Park. The second half of May is a great time to be here because the bears are getting active and there aren't many visitors yet. We arrived yesterday under light rain and after getting settled I headed out to see what was happening. The rain was just a drizzle by the time I reached the Petrified Tree area and this Black Bear sow with two cinnamon-colored yearling cubs. They were at a nice distance to photograph and keep the Ranger happy, and my favorite image (above) is of the family settling down to take a nap.
