We photographed the fall color in the San Juan Mountains yesterday. My favorite image is of an unusual group of orange aspens — most aspens turn yellow. It was made in the morning before the hillside received sunlight, and the diffuse light and polarizer helped bring out the colors. A polarizer in the shade you ask? Yes, it helped remove the reflections that would have given the image a blue/cyan cast from the reflected sky.
