Conditions were good for macro flower photography yesterday evening in the San Juan National Forest. For this image of a Rosy Paintbrush, the shallow depth of field helps the blossom stand out from the background, and by positioning my camera at about 45° to the blossom, I was able to get many elements in focus — the best of both worlds.
