We hung out with a nice group of bighorn sheep yesterday in Clear Creek County, Colorado. The rut is underway and the five good-sized rams were busy keeping tabs on the ewes and fighting for dominance. They were mostly in a much better environment than last time and the weather was much better too: light wind and brightish overcast.

Even so they sure blend well with their surroundings! What an amazing sight this would be. I bet the sound was impressive as well!

It sure was a special day with so much head butting. Shortly before we left, there was a threesome butting heads, like two against one, and they butted heads one time within about 5 yds (5m) of Jan. Fortunately, the rams don't worry about hornless humans competing for their females.
