Kori Bustard in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa

On our first full day in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, based out of Twee Rivieren, we saw our first cats. The first was a cheetah that was collared (boo hiss), and our next was a group of lions resting in the shade on the far side of the river — yes, "river." We were on the road that follows the dry Auob River. We also saw our first spotted hyena.

My favorite image of the day is of a kori bustard, the heaviest bird that can fly.
