A Castle at Bisti

We took a day off from photographing in the Bisti Wilderness to run some errands in town (Farmington, New Mexico). Some really nice clouds lit up at sunset, and we wished we were back in Bisti so we could photograph it.

When I went out the next morning, there were some clouds on the horizon with some color, but the band was too narrow to do anything with. So, I explored an area of the Bisti Wilderness that I hadn't been to before. I found some nice "castles," high ridges above the undulating sandstone/mudstone mounds. The clear sky wasn't very interesting, but by minimizing the amout of it in the composition, the little bit of dark blue at the top of the frame was acceptable (above).

Clear blue sky and you're complaining!?
I'll trade our rain with you!
Kidding, I understand.
I'm enjoying your Bist-eye shots!

Of course I'm complaining, Gordon. I want a fantastic sky, like the one you'll see in the next post.
